
Senior Landscape Architect

Role Summary:
As a Senior Landscape Designer at PLA, you will be responsible for the execution of core design work
under the directional guidance of the Lead Designer/Lead Production Designer, in close collaboration with
other working design team members (Senior Designers, Junior Designers, Production, and Shared Design
Service). You will execute and complete multiple projects (at any given time) during conceptual design,
schematic design and design development and then collaborating with Lead Production Designer and
Production for a smooth transition to working drawings and ultimately in delivery successful construction of
PLA designs. You will be part of a designer pool grouped under the Design Director reporting directly to a Lead
Designer on a project basis. You will have the support from Junior Designers which are also pooled under the
Design Director.
Accountabilities:
∙Successful execution of multiple assigned projects: output quality to PLA standards and customer
expectations, meeting the deliverable and internal milestones, meeting project budgets (team hours
consumed and direct project expenses), successful construction of your design
Responsibilities:
∙Execution of Project Design (for CD, SD, DD WD, and SS phases)
oCreate design concept under the directional guidance of the Lead Designer (i.e., design
scope, key design requirements, broad design direction/guidelines) towards the completion
of the CD pack
oComplete designs (also under directional guidance of the Lead Designer) taking concepts
through SD and DD phases towards the completion of the SD and DD packs
oProactively seek feedback from Lead Designer ensuring an overall good design (i.e., PLA
aesthetics/style, client requirements, functionality, technicality/practicality, site applicability,
holistic alignment, cost of construction)
oParticipate in the design review process; completing input materials (and assist Lead Designer
in circulation beforehand where applicable); You will execute design-related actions as
articulated and assigned thereafter
oEnsure completeness, standards and quality of design deliverables and design packages
oPrioritize work tasks across multiple projects along multiple phases and delegate
project/tasks to designated Junior Designers and provide guidance and support
oComprehensive handover of project work to ensure a smooth transition of design work to the
WD/SS teams
oSupport with design consultation/clarification and Quality Control as needed (which may
include site visits)
oDelegate transition and support tasks to Senior and Junior Designers as applicable and
appropriate
∙Coordinate with external project consultants/parties and client team
oEstablish yourself as the key person for coordination activities
oAttend and actively participate in workshops, meetings with external consultants/parties,
(and when needed contractors) by articulating design ideas, developing design solutions and
negotiating designs (working closely with the Project Manager)
oEnsure that outcomes and resolutions are captured and articulated to the project team and
Lead Designer
oSupport the Project Manager with client management, particularly with design-related issues
to ensure clear communication of design-related topics (This may entail attending
meetings/workshops and actively participating in client communications)
oFurther support Project Manager to facilitate submission/presentation of deliverables,
invoicing and collections when they entail design-related input/action
∙Project work allocation, coordination and management
oEnsure compliance to timesheet entry
oSelf-monitor hours budgeted and consumed on any particular project, understanding
whether any project plan deviation issues can be anticipated, raise them and propose
resolution to Project Manager and Lead Designer
oDelegate/allocate design, coordination, client management support tasks clearly to Junior
Designers in alignment and within the boundaries of the project budget (hours and direct
expenses)
oResolve issues by prioritizing and/or (re) allocation of work where needed – seek alignment
with Project Management, Design Director and relevant Design Leads
oWhen necessary, participate in periodic Projects Update Meeting (led by Projects and
Operations Director) to reach collaborative resolutions of projects’ issues relating to client
deliverable milestones, invoicing/collections, resourcing and cross-departmental interactions
(Own any resolution actions that have been assigned and delegate to the design team when
appropriate)
∙Team development Support
oProvide informal constructive feedback to Junior Designers/Production
oAssist Lead Designers/Lead Production Designers with appraisals of team members
Requirement:
∙Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
∙At least 5 years of experience in landscape design
∙Computer literacy (AutoCAD, Photo Shop, Sketch up, etc.)
∙Well communication in English
∙Self-motivated
∙Analytical and problem solving skills
∙Well organized and detail oriented
∙Good team player
